My Why
When Kristina was a little girl, her father would come home and pull all his change out of his pocket and drop it on the table.
If Kristina could add it up correctly, she got to put the change in a piggy bank. At this very early age, she realized “counting” was super easy.
This game with her Dad went on for years until he passed away.
Almost immediately, Kristina’s mother had to completely changed careers in order to raise two children as a single mom.
Her mom took on a straight 1099 commission position and over the next 14 years, she was a top sales “woman” every single year.
When Kristina was 13, her mother’s CPA taught her how to maintain her monthly accounting. This would save Kristina’s mom a ton of money and was great experience for Kristina. This experience aided Kristina when her mother was audited by the IRS, and Kristina was able to prove they owed her mother money!
Inspired by her dad, this is a letter she wrote to her banker when she was just 9 years old.
Dear Sir,
My name is Kristina Helferty. I am 9 years old and in fourth grade. I have been keeping my money at your bank since I was little. My account number is 045-149-1. You gave me $3.31, then took away $5.00. Do you know I would have been better off keeping my money at home?
From: Kristina Helferty
P.S. If I leave my money in there till I am 20, it will be all gone.
